Learn about volunteering with UHHR at info session

09 January 2019

If you're interested in volunteering with UHHR, join us for an upcoming info session where we'll go over what our organization does and the role you can play in helping local torture survivors heal.

The volunteer information session will take place at 6 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 17, at our office, located at 225 S. 200 East, Suite 250, in downtown Salt Lake City. We'll go over what our organization does, who we serve, and the volunteer opportunities we have available now.

Our volunteer jobs — which you can read about in detail here — include:

  • Driving clients to and from appointments
  • Watching clients' children during their appointments
  • Helping with office work
  • Mentoring clients to help them achieve specific goals (e.g., learning to use public transportation or the library)
  • Using your professional skills or expertise to help with interpretation, massage therapy, psychiatric clinics, therapy, and more

If you decide to attend the information session, keep in mind there is limited parking. The spaces behind our office building — the brick one that says "Peterson" on its side — are free to use after 5 p.m. Otherwise, you'll have to use one of the paid street parking spaces. If you have questions about the session, please get in touch with our volunteer coordinator, Madeleine Homer, at  or 801-494-5432.

We hope to see you there!
