Isael Torres, M.Ed.

Program Coordinator (HMSP Program)

Isael completed his bachelor’s degree in Social Work at Utah State University. He also holds a master’s degree in Education, Culture and Society from the University of Utah. Isael served in the Obama White House Internship Program in the Office of Public Engagement and Intergovernmental Affairs where he was able to gain experience in working with high level stakeholders regarding Latino Immigration Affairs. In September 2017, Isael had the opportunity to speak at TEDxSaltLakeCity on the topic of Culturally Relevant Pedagogy and the importance of educational justice for youth. In working to advocate for education access and equity with underserved communities, Isael has centered his experience to better advocate for celebrating diversity and embracing the richness within our schools and community. Isael joined UHHR in 2020 as the Holistic Migrant Support Program (HMSP) Coordinator, helping to create and lead the pilot program. The HMSP facilitates essential behavior and psychosocial health services for vulnerable migrant families, including children and adolescents. Isael was born in Logan, Utah, as a proud son of Mexican immigrants.
