Katty Youd, MA

Program Coordinator (Migrant Wellness Program)

Katty is a proud daughter of Peruvian immigrants, a wife, a sister, and a mother. Her heritage enriched her love for cultures, languages, and people at a very early age, and she has dedicated her life to serving marginalized communities. Katty had over 10 years of experience working with higher education, nongovernmental organizations, and local nonprofits with immigrant and refugee populations prior to joining UHHR in 2021. She received her Bachelors' degree in Sociocultural Anthropology from Brigham Young University with minors in International Development and Arabic, and her Master’s Degree in International Development from Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota. She has lived in Peru, Portugal, and Jordan and has extensive experience in program development and data management. She is a native Spanish speaker and has learned Portuguese, Arabic, American Sign Language, and is trying to learn French. Katty has also provided interpretation and translation services to various organizations, from nonprofit settings to supply chain companies, over her career. As an educator and advocate at heart, Katty is able to be both while coordinating the Migrant Wellness Program at Utah Health and Human Rights.
