4 Days of Giving - A Sense of Purpose

For our 4 Days of Giving campaign, Utah Health & Human Rights is sharing stories of healing, resilience, and hope. We are highlighting the impact that our programs have for clients — the path from personal and family healing to community involvement and reconnecting with a feeling of purpose and strength.

Please consider donating to support these valuable programs during 4 DAYS OF GIVING as Utah Health & Human Rights aims to raise $15,000 during our virtual fundraiser. Your donation will be matched by an anonymous donor to have double, and maybe even triple, the impact.

For the final stories of healing for our 4 Days of Giving campaign, we are delighted to share these celebrations of purpose and hope for current and past clients of Utah Health & Human rights. Let's join in cheering for their successes and their futures.

hippolyte

Ngabo (featured in our story from Day 1) has plans for the future which he said he couldn’t have if his past stressors were still affecting him. Ngabo will be applying for citizenship soon and hopes to go visit friends and family in Rwanda with his children so he can show them his culture and where they come from.

Hippolyte came to Utah as an asylum seeker and was granted asylum in 2011. In 2018, he proudly became a U.S. citizen and recently became a member of our Board of Directors.

Kawther is very proud to become a US citizen and to be able to vote in the 2020 election. She is so excited to vote for the first time in her life. She has improved her language and still attending English classes to be able to communicate with her grandchildren on visits. Kawther volunteers in the Iraqi community organization to support her community and is proud to attend the knitting/sewing group and being able to knit and sew outfits for herself and her grandchildren.

Suada and Emsud were both able to vote for the first time this year. They were both so excited to vote and make their voices heard. Suada has been able to work a full-time job and has been feeling much better while working than she felt when she was not able to work.

Leonia and Emile were able to vote for the first time since coming to the U.S. They are both working jobs and their children are doing well in high school, college, and starting their own families

Ali is working fulltime and attending ESLC classes. His goal is to improve his language and he is practicing what he learns in his English classes every day. Ali now owns a car and has been driving himself to work and around town.

Sium
is working full time and has recently passed his driver's test. Sium hopes to save up enough money to purchase a car soon. He has many goals for his future and feels like he can finally work towards those goals now that his medical concerns have been taken care of.

On this day of purpose and hope, we ask you to help support the great programs that have helped these UHHR clients. These services depend on financial contributions from people like you to help survivors rebuild lives. During 4 DAYS OF GIVING, your donations will be matched up to $25,000 by an anonymous donor, so your financial support goes twice or three times as far. We are grateful for your support. To make a donation, please click here.
